About this event

Orientation at Ohio State Marion will introduce you to life as a Buckeye! Prior to your on-campus Orientation session, you will complete a series of steps online including placement testing and other To Do List items found on your Buckeye Link page and a virtual course in Carmen, Ohio State's online course management system.

At Orientation, you will meet members of our staff and faculty, learn about the courses required for your area of study, and discover the wide range of opportunities and resources on campus designed to support your success as a college student. If you've completed all the required items on your To Do List, you will schedule classes on Orientation Day.

Watch your Ohio State email for communication about Orientation once you have been admitted and paid your acceptance fee. Students must register for Orientation through their Applicant Center once the $100 acceptance fee is paid.

About this event

'The State of Lake Erie: Nutrients and Harmful Algal Blooms" 
Lake Erie is a vital resource for all Ohioans. Dr. Winslow will take a high-level glimpse into Lake Erie nutrient sources today, including our understanding of agricultural nutrient losses, best management practices, farmer decisions, possible strategies to move toward a 40% phosphorus reduction, information gaps and research needs. Dr. Chris Winslow Coordinates Ohio Sea Grant and Ohio State's Stone Lab Lake Erie research, education, and outreach efforts in partnerships with state and federal agencies and universities.

About this event

Master carousel carver and restorationist Todd Goings of Carousel and Carvings in Marion, Ohio has worked for 35 years to keep the art of American carved wooden carousels alive. Built in a handful of master artisan workshops from the 1880s to the 1930s, wooden carousels are participatory folk-art environments that set whimsical carved animals to music and movement in custom-built mechanical frames. Of America’s several-thousand original wooden carousels, just 150 remain. Goings has worked on many of them, and, along the way, has revived the American carousel workshop for a new century.

Development and Community Relations is hosting an educational workshop by Dr. Scharre, Director of The Ohio State University Center of Cognitive and Memory Disorders and Professor of Clinical Neurology and Psychiatry on Alzheimer's. He and his group will be here to administer the SAGE (Self-Administerd Gerocognitive Exam) test for those who are interested.
