Buckeye Backers

Buckeye Backers, Ohio State Marion volunteers, was created in 1996 to:

  • be a resource for our community and for the region
  • promote a spirit for the community
  • form a living-learning partnership.

Volunteers participate in a variety of campus activities and events. They are regularly involved in student orientation, college night, donor/scholar recognition, financial aid fair, eighth-grade tours, Five Nights on Campus, art fair, science fair, prairie days, OSU golf outings, yard and bake sales, spider surveys, store surveys, Kids’ College, and the “I Can Go to College” program.

Members have enjoyed the camaraderie of monthly meetings where they receive updates on aspects of campus life and meet staff and faculty. The administration treats the group to a Christmas party, and in the fall of each year, members are transported to Columbus to become acquainted with programs on that campus. All have come to realize the close connection between regional campuses and the Columbus campus. They have been welcomed as an integral part of the huge Ohio State University family.

Contact the office of Community Relations at (740)725-6340, if you would like to volunteer to help at any of Ohio State Marion's activities.
