Assistant Professor and Historian, Dr. Brianna Frakes from Ohio State’s Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society will present a free public lecture entitled, To the Gates of Richmond: The Civil War in Virginia, Tuesday, August 11, 5:30 p.m. at Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen as part of the campus’s Buckeye Talks on Tap monthly community lecture series.
Ohio State Marion senior Micah Harris, a history major from Upper Sandusky, has been awarded a Freeman Foundation Asia Summer Scholarship to support a two‑month internship in Japan beginning in May 2026.
Building on the success of The Ohio State University at Marion’s 2023 public history lecture series, the campus is partnering this spring with Mayes Community Temple—one of Marion’s historic black churches and a longstanding center of faith, service, and community empowerment—to present a free, public three-part program. Together, the two organizations will co-sponsor the Marion Histories Spring Lecture Series, highlighting the pivotal contributions of black Marionites to the region’s political, economic, and social development.
