Counseling & Wellness Services

All enrolled students are eligible to receive free and confidential counseling and support services. Mental health concerns and challenging life experiences can impact how one feels and functions, diminishing academic performance.  The Counseling & Wellness team encourages students to reach out sooner rather than later. Help is available and typically, students can be scheduled for the first appointment within a few days. Available services include assessment, 1:1 counseling, small groups, case management, health & wellness coaching, and outreach programming.  See below to schedule an appointment.

If you are experiencing a crisis, call 9-1-1.  To speak to someone outside of normal business hours, call the Ohio State After Hours Line, (614) 292-5766. Help is also available by calling or texting 988.

Schedule an Appointment

The easiest way to schedule an appointment is to email Leslie (beary.4@osu.edu) or Ellen (farrell.421@osu.edu).  Every effort is made to have the student seen within a few days to a week of the initial contact. In the first appointment, students can expect to begin the conversation to discuss what is troubling them and explore ideas/treatment that will lead to a resolution. Students guide the process related to the frequency and duration of the counseling process.

The mission of the SMART Lab is to teach stress management and resiliency skills to help students feel and function better.

Visit the Exhale Room

The Exhale Room is a self-guided relaxation space where students breathe, meditate, or just have some down time for self-care. The Exhale Room is open 9 to 5 Monday through Friday and students are welcome to enjoy aromatherapy, comforting bean bag chairs, sand trays, and more. No reservation is needed, come check it out! Uwill Teletherapy

The Ohio State University Newark has access to a new platform called Uwill that is free and open to all students seeking mental health help. The platform allows students to have immediate access to a counselor 24/7/365, as well as the option to schedule appointments with a counselor based upon their preferences. Uwill has a self-care feature that allows students to view videos on mindfulness techniques, yoga and meditation exercises on demand.
