Buckeyes First

First-generation student success matters at Ohio State Marion.

The goal of the Buckeyes First program is to support first-generation student success. We support our first-gen Buckeyes through:

  • Continuous promotion of a campus culture that values the diversity that all of our students bring
  • Cultivating an awareness and pride around first generation student culture
  • Providing a comprehensive support network for first generation students that begins with pre-college initiatives and extends to future alumni engagement/support

Our Mission

The Buckeyes First initiative aligns with the university’s mission of preparing a diverse student body to be leaders and engaged citizens. We understand the value in providing access, information, and education to students who identify as first-generation students from year one through the entire academic journey.

Are you a First-Gen student?

At Ohio State, you are considered a first-generation student if neither parent earned a four-year degree.
