Meet the Support Services Team

Counseling & Wellness Center

The team from the Counseling and Wellness Center is excited to meet you during orientation! College is an exciting time during which you will have new experiences, challenges that pull you out of your comfort zone, and amazing growth that leads you to find your genuine self!

Leslie Beary, Ellen Farrell, and Carlyn Bower, licensed mental health clinicians, provide an important resource for students to receive support, guidance, and treatment as needed.  No cost is involved and no topics are off-limits.  Students are typically scheduled within one week of requesting an appointment.  Simply email MRN-Counseling@osu.edu or stop into 200 Maynard Hall to schedule an appointment.

In addition to 1:1 appointments, the team hosts a robust schedule of outreach programs to support the needs of students like suicide prevention training, stress and anxiety management, healthy breakfasts, the art of wellbeing, and yoga.  Students who take care of themselves to feel good and function well, perform better in the classroom.

No one on the Marion campus expects students to navigate college life on their own. When students reach out and ask for what they need (counseling, tutoring, financial aid advice, etc.), they develop a foundation for an exceptional first year experience!

We can’t wait to welcome you to our Buckeye family!

Office of Student Life

The Office of Student Life includes a variety of areas to engage students outside the classroom to foster belonging and wellbeing.  Orientation gives us the opportunity to start to get to know you and learn about the things that interest you and the ways that you would like to get involved.  Student Life provides students opportunities to join or start clubs, participate in fitness and wellness classes, attend cookouts and social events, play intramural sports, craft, take on leadership roles, and so much more.

During orientation, you will meet the team, tour the Alber Student Center, and get your BuckID. You will see additional resources housed in the Student Center, like the Fogle Family Farm Food Pantry and the Clothing Closet.  You can sign up to to get more information about fall intramurals, Undergraduate Student Government, Campus Activities Board, and other clubs and organizations.

Participating in campus life helps students get to know the campus and each other.  Recreating and socializing in between, before, or after classes is good for the brain and body, which in essence supports students academically as well. We cannot wait to welcome you into our close-knit community at The Ohio State University at Marion!
