Ohio State Artist Laureate brings thought provoking film to campus

Professional actor and Ohio State Artist Laureate Kevin McClatchy, in collaboration with The Ohio State University at Marion, will present a screening of the film Scrap Heap, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 6 - 8 p.m. at The Ohio State University at Marion, Morrill Hall Auditorium, Room 100.

This event is free and open to the public. Veterans, current military, and family members are encouraged to attend this unique and captivating film. Scrap Heap is a film examining the costs of war through the eyes of one forgotten soldier. In this powerful multimedia performance, Ohio State’s Kevin McClatchy portrays a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran who is transitioning from military to civilian life.

Scrap Heap is a turbulent, darkly funny whiplash tour that examines the costs of war and explores the reality of what we ask of service members. Immediately following the screening, veterans from the Marion community will guide a post-show conversation. Community conversation will be facilitated by Ohio State Marion Military Community Advocate, Eric Bailey. These conversations are an opportunity to communalize experiences, dismantle myths and cultivate empathy and understanding.

Please note, Scrap Heap discusses combat-related trauma and suicide and uses flashing lights and sound effects including gunfire. Refreshments will be provided to those in attendance.
