Ohio State Marion to hold Engineering Open House

It's projected that engineering technology jobs will grow 13% by 2026. With such rapid advancement in technologies, such as artificial intelligence, robotics and smart manufacturing, companies in a variety of industries are looking for professionals that can help them innovate and adapt. Ohio State's engineering technology program was designed by industry leaders to ensure our students graduate with the exact ready-to-hire skills and experience these employers seek. On average, our grads' annual base salaries range from $80,000 to $87,000.

The Ohio State University at Marion will will hold an Engineering Open House, Wednesday, April 9th at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Classroom Building and Science and Engineering Building on campus.  This event is free and open to the public and may be of particular interest to young people that excel in STEM, as well as area manufacturing and business industry leaders who hire engineers.

According to organizers, this event is the ideal opportunity to learn more about the engineering technology program on Ohio State’s regional campuses and its evolution over the years. Attendees will hear about the latest engineering updates, take part in self-guided tours of classrooms and labs, while engaging with current engineering students through hands-on demonstrations. Ohio State Marion engineering students and faculty will be on hand to answer questions and provide insight into the program’s unique offerings.

“This event is geared to be informative to regional manufacturers and industry leaders who rely on engineers in the workplace, as well as prospective students who have an interest in engineering and/or excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics,” said Director of Development and Community Relations, Cathy Gerber.

“Ohio State Marion has a strong engineering program and our local manufacturing partners, such as Whirlpool, Honda, and POET, were instrumental in the curriculum creation of our engineering technology degree program. Their engagement has enabled our graduates to hit the ground running because they earned a real-world manufacturing centered degree program with valuable hands-on components utilizing the latest industry technology,” she added.

According to a recent article by the Columbus Dispatch, engineering technology, which is only available on Ohio State’s regional campuses, is one of the top 5 paying Ohio State majors upon graduating.

This is an opportunity to discover how Ohio State Marion can support students in shaping successful engineering careers and filling the regional manufacturing talent pipeline.
