The Ohio State University at Marion recently welcomed Candace Floyd of Marion to their staff. Floyd was hired to serve as program coordinator for the Office of Student Life, Diversity & Inclusion on campus and has hit the ground running with Welcome Week activities and a host of other student involvement events planned for autumn semester.

Ohio State Marion Senior Lecturer in Mathematics, Parisa Fatheddin recently published her new book Teaching and Research in Mathematics, A Guide with Applications to Industry on August 26, 2022. The new book was published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, an informa business, a Chapman & Hall Book.

The Ohio State University at Marion will hold a series of events and activities on campus from Monday, August 22nd through Wednesday, August 31st as part of their annual Welcome Week on campus. Students of Ohio State Marion and Marion Technical College, as well as faculty and staff are invited to join us.

Each year, the participants in the Leadership Marion program, run by the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, develop a project to address a need in the community by coordinating with community organizations and partners. 2022 was no exception. A group of Ohio State Marion faculty and staff are helping their community counterparts lead the way in this important initiative.

This week, fifteen teachers and school personnel from districts in Marion and surrounding counties are participating in a “Teacher Manufacturing Boot Camp” organized by America’s Workforce Development Capital, Marion Technical College, Ashland University and The Ohio State University at Marion.

A dedicated team of Ohio State Marion faculty, students, staff, and Marion volunteer cyclists that take part in The James Comprehensive Cancer Center’s annual three day cycling and fundraising event Pelotonia, were recently recognized by the organization for raising over $100,000 for cancer research over the past 9 years.

As a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy as a radio operator Hal Hazelett had a love of country and fellow citizens. This is most evident by his wide variety of involvement in his community through education as well as civic and service organizations. These included his church, Boy Scouts, parent teacher organizations, YMCA and more. He went on to serve young people throughout his career with the legacy of higher education.

The new Foster Family Scholarship for Early Childhood Education will provide support to third- and fourth-year Ohio State undergrads studying early childhood education or the equivalent at one of Ohio State’s regional campuses in Marion, Lima, Mansfield or Newark.
