With an emphasis on STEM education and a commitment to helping students make college affordable, The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College partnered together once again to offer local area high school students the opportunity at $18,000 in scholarships awarded at the campus's annual mathematics challenge.
Mathematics faculty from The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College administered a math test to 100 students from Elgin, Marion Harding, North Union, Pleasant, Ridgedale and River Valley in Morrill Hall Auditorium Friday, December 8th.
“Mathematics is crucial skill upon which many courses of study, including the sciences and engineering, rely,” said Ohio State Marion Dean and Director, Gregory S. Rose. “Students engaged in this competition should be congratulated for seeking to excel in mathematics now and in the future.”
Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion each awarded the first-place winner $1,000. The second-place winners earned $750 from each institution. The third-place winner in each grade level was awarded $500 from each college. The top six scorers from each school were used to create teams.
