Wheels in Motion: Reimagining Renewal Through Cycles of Change
From the rhythmic turn of bicycle wheels to the seasonal cycles of farm-to-table harvests, sustainability represents an ongoing, dynamic process. This third annual installment of the Sustainability Stories exhibition invites you to interact with our local ecosystem of change— where history inspires the future through intentional renewal and emergent innovation.
At the heart of this story lies Ohio State Marion, the central hub of inspiration and action. But radiating outward like spokes on a wheel, the campus’s sustainability initiatives are connected to a much larger network of vibrant community efforts: from urban renewal projects that reclaim green spaces and revive tired downtown blocks, to local farms and restaurants that nourish our towns and rural areas, to cyclists who pedal with purpose in support of cancer research. Each spoke is a story; each turn is a transformation.
Visitors will explore how circularity—both literal and symbolic—drives social, environmental, and personal resilience. Through interactive installations and powerful narratives, the exhibit reveals how recurring patterns of renewal have shaped our past and can guide our shared future.
As with past Sustainability Stories shows, we encourage visitors to engage with the various projects, places, and people involved in these initiatives beyond the walls of the Kuhn Gallery. To that end, please pick up a copy (or scan the QR code) of our exhibition’s “trail guide,” a map of several noteworthy spots both on and off campus related to this year’s theme.
Motion sparks momentum. Revolutions reimagine communities. Cycles connect us all. We invite you to step into the flow. Discover how small revolutions create big change, one turn at a time.
