The Ohio State University at Marion will induct alumni and longtime university and campus advocates Ted & Marlene Temple into the Alumni Hall of Fame during an official ceremony, Monday, November 17, 2025, in Maynard Hall’s Guthery Community Room. The Temple’s will be inducted alongside Dave Gorenflo as 2025 inductees.
According to Ohio State Marion Director of Development & Community Relations, Cathy Gerber, the nomination of this dedicated Marion couple was an easy and heartfelt choice, as the Temples exemplify Buckeye pride, service, and dedication, leaving a lasting legacy at Ohio State Marion and beyond.
Ohio State Marion will proudly celebrate Ted and Marlene Temple as longtime leaders of the Ohio State Marion Alumni Club and champions of Buckeye spirit. For over 30 years, the Temples have organized hundreds of alumni events, raising substantial funds for scholarships and student programs. Their efforts have contributed more than $72,000 in personal giving and helped raise over $200,000 in scholarship funds for the campus through the annual Big Ten Buckeye Bash.
Ted, a swim coach for over 50 years, and Marlene, a dedicated educator in Marion City Schools, have shaped countless lives through their commitment to youth and education, said Gerber. As President and Secretary of the OSU Alumni Club of Marion County, their leadership continues to inspire community support for Ohio State, she added.
During their time leading the local alumni club, The Temples have supported nearly every campus event—from coordinating refreshments at Five Nights on Campus to stocking the campus food pantry. Their generosity includes funding the naming of the admissions office in Maynard Hall, awarding scholarships to local high school students, and countless hours of volunteer time for special events.
“Being involved with the campus all these years and interacting with people, especially the students, alumni and staff, has made our relationship with Ohio State Marion one of the best parts of volunteering,” said Ted and Marlene Temple.
In recognition of their impact, the Temples also received the 2024 E. Gordon Gee Spirit Award from the Ohio State Alumni Association and the Ralph Howard Service Award from Ohio State Marion in 2011.
“They eat, sleep, and breathe Ohio State,” said Cathy Gerber, Director of Development and Community Relations. “Their passion is infectious and deeply impactful.”
