Ohio State Marion Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Golrokh Mirzaei recently received an Undergraduate Research Access Innovation Seed Grant from Ohio State in the amount of $9,960.

Mirzaei was one of five faculty who teach at The Ohio State University at Marion to receive this grant. The grant will fund research opportunities for our students, help them build skills, experiences, and their resume, and support faculty research.

According to Mirzaei, the aim of the project is to develop set of machine learning techniques for understanding of the interplay between genetic factors and imaging data for disease detection. By leveraging the power of machine learning algorithms, we seek to discern subtle patterns and associations that can serve as potential biomarkers for cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

"Through this multi-disciplinary project, students work together with multidisciplinary background as a team, and contribute to the advancement of precision medicine by enhancing early detection, diagnosis, and treatment strategies for complex diseases," said Mirzaei.
