Microfarm workshop offers information on unique self-employment opportunity

The Ohio State University at Marion in partnership with the community Microfarm Task Force is offering a free informational workshop for those who might be interested in learning more about microfarm opportunities coming to the Marion area.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022, 6 p.m. at the Union, 130 S. Main Street, Marion, Ohio 43302. Food will be available to all attendees and masks are required during the workshop.

If you or someone you know has a green thumb, would like to earn up to $30,000 per year, is interested in owning your own business, or have ever considered microfarming as an occupation, this workshop for to you. Training for microfarmers is available.

The Microfarm Project makes the business of sustainable urban farming accessible, equitable, and profitable by leveraging the knowledge and science of the land grant university to grow cooperative businesses, make microfarming profitable, train new microfarmers, address racial and social justice by creating access to microfarming opportunity, study the impacts of microfarming on the surrounding community and ecosystems, and connect students to knowledge, research, and service opportunities in and around microfarming.

This one-time event is free and open to the public. Earn a first or second income, help battle food insecurity in Marion, and improve the nutritional value of our local food supply.
