Student Play Reading
Date and Time: Saturday, April 9, 7 p.m.
Where: The Women’s Club Home, 1126 E Center St, Marion, OH 43302
On Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m., the Marion Women’s Club will host a public reading of short plays written by students at The Ohio State University at Marion, in partnership with the JNS Theatre for Social Change, a New York City-based theatre program led by award-winning directors and producers.
Inspired by their research in the archives of the Marion Women’s Club, as well as contemporary questions surrounding women’s rights, the students in Professor Margaret Sumner’s course, HI2610, “Busy, Brilliant, and Bossy: Discovering Histories of American Women’s Community Activism” have crafted a series of dramatic works spotlighting the history of women’s activism that engage multiple perspectives.
JNS Theater for Social Change is a program that works with students and community groups throughout the United States to create dramatic works centered on serious social issues. Through a university and private endowment, JNS is working with The Ohio State University at Marion for the sixth consecutive year and is excited for this new partnership with the Marion Women’s Club.
Join us Saturday at the Marion Women's Club and hear these plays read by Marion community members
