The Ohio State University at Marion has named former Marion Harding High School teacher and Ohio State alumna Maisie Beary as admissions counselor, where she will help prospective students and families navigate the college enrollment process.
According to Ohio State Marion Director of Enrollment Services, Ashley Marsh, Beary was added to the enrollment team to support prospective students and families as they explore their college options and discover all that Ohio State Marion has to offer.
"Maisie brings a strong educational background and a genuine passion for helping students succeed," said Marsh. "Her experience as an educator and mentor will make her an outstanding resource for future Buckeyes and their families."
In her new role, Beary will connect with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and community partners in the region to help students navigate their path to The Ohio State University and find the opportunities that best fit their goals.
An Ohio State alumna, Beary earned both a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Education from The Ohio State University. Before joining Ohio State Marion, she taught integrated social studies at Marion Harding High School, where she discovered a passion for helping students plan their futures beyond high school.
Beary shared that she is looking forward to a change of pace in higher education while still connecting with students to direct them in their future endeavors.
"I was raised with the mindset of giving back to my community, so the opportunity to do that as a Buckeye was especially meaningful," Beary said. "During my time at Harding High School, I developed a passion for helping students connect their interests and goals with their future plans. I'm excited to continue that work by helping students discover the opportunities available through Ohio State."
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Beary remains active in the Marion community as a coach for two area swimming teams.
