Deel has over 30 years’ experience as an administrative professional, 14 1/2 of which have been at The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the staff at Ohio State Marion, she served as program coordinator in the Office of Advancement on the Columbus campus, supporting two esteemed assistant vice presidents and co-supporting an associate vice president. Over the course of her career, she has held positions such as executive assistant and secretary. While those roles have varied, the administrative function has been a constant and fulfilling aspect of Deel’s career.
“I take great pride in my career path,” said Deel, “Especially in choosing the administrative profession and building a strong network of partnerships at various levels of leadership.”
“Although I didn’t have the opportunity to attend college, I have always prioritized continuous learning and creative problem-solving. Much of my career was spent in the corporate sector, where I wore many hats and gained invaluable experience,” she added.
Deel said, “these experiences have enriched my current role, allowing me to contribute in new and impactful ways. I approach each day with a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence, and this mindset has served me well throughout my career.”
Deel currently serves as President of The Ohio State University Administrative Professionals (OSUAP).
As part of her role with the OSUAP executive team, Deel participates in the Advancement Innovation Experience, where she is learning about innovation and design thinking. This project is focused on employee engagement and belonging, aligning with the advancement alignment plan and the university’s shared values.
Deel is a resident of Delaware, Ohio and has been married to husband Mike for the past 33 years. According to Deel, the 2 have enjoyed the empty-nester lifestyle for the past six years by embracing the opportunity to travel and explore the world. Over the years, they have visited places like Mexico, the Virgin Islands, Maui, the Dominican Republic, California, Texas, and Montana. Most recently, traveling to Bangor, Maine, a trip to Alaska.
According to Deel, future bucket list travel includes exploring more states before venturing overseas to experience new cultures and destinations.
