Five nights season closes with internationally renowned duet

The Ohio State University at Marion’s Five Nights on Campus performing arts series closes the 2018-19 season by welcoming the musical stylings of Diane Penning and Paul Langford to Morrill Hall Auditorium, Thursday, May 9th at 7:30 p.m.

With her “silvery and thrilling” lyric soprano and “astounding coloratura” voice, Diane Penning has recorded internationally and headlined in classical and pops programs with dozens of orchestras nationwide. Pops programs exhibit her versatility in songs that range from standards to showpieces for coloratura soprano like Think of Me from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and Glitter and be Gay from Bernstein’s ‘Candide’.

Renowned conductor and pianist Paul Langford is an arranger for world class orchestras and vocal groups. His silky tenor voice adds to the duo’s lush duets along with his elegant style at the keyboard. Langford has accompanied Grammy winners Celine Dion, Kenny Rogers, Michael Buble and Josh Groban and has sung for President Bill Clinton and First Lady Michele Obama, and has led orchestras around the world.

“Diane Penning and Paul Langford are the real deal! Diane has the perfect voice to present music from Broadway and Hollywood, and Paul is a perfect match for her. He has a terrific voice and his arrangements are first rate,” said Conductor of the Grand Rapids Symphony, John Varineau.
