About this event

This series of Writing Center workshops is targeted to students in science and social science classes who are writing a research review paper. Session 1 (9/16) will focus on how to choose the best and most relevant primary peer reviewed sources for a research review paper in scientific fields, reinforcing the need to cull sources deliberately and how to make determinations about relevance from a quick read/skim. Individual help with finding and selecting sources will be provided. Session 2 (9/30) will focus on interpreting and connecting sources, reinforcing strategies for synthesis and helping students create claims about the connections between and among sources. Individual help with working with sources will be provided. Session 3 (10/21) will focus on structuring a draft and integrating sources, which will help students move from synthesis and making connections to actually writing a draft. Individual help with source integration, choices about structure, and combating writer's block will be provided.
