Gavin Smith joins Ohio State Marion admissions team

The Ohio State University at Marion Enrollment Services Office welcomed the newest member of  the admissions team Gavin Smith as admissions counselor on Monday, November 18.

As a member of the Office of Enrollment Services at Ohio State Marion, Smith will be trained to counsel prospective students and their family members during their journey toward pursuing higher education at Ohio State Marion.

Smith will also be responsible to assists with department outreach activities; manage a recruitment territory; assist with territory specific recruitment activities and events; develop positive relationships with high school counselors and community college advisors; travels to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to represent The Ohio State University. 


“Our team is really excited to welcome Gavin”, said Ohio State Marion Enrollment Services Director, Ashley Marsh. “We are excited for the energy that he will be bringing to the team.” 

“He will be working with students in the College Credit Plus program, focusing on a few specific majors for outreach and working hard to recruit students,” she said. “We are thrilled as he joins our team.”

 

Born and raised in Dublin, Ohio, Smith has been connected to The Ohio State University his entire life with both parents attending The Ohio State University.  After a move to Atlanta GA by his family after high school, Smith decided to attend school at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science.  

In addition to overseeing his fraternity alumni connections in college, he completed summer internships in the legal field as well as state government before and after his senior year of college.

Smith now resides in Gahanna, Ohio.  In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, hockey, tennis and traveling with family.
