He continued to impact youth as STEM Coordinator at TRECA and Tech Prep Consultant at MTC. From 1973 to 2022, his influence touched generations of Marion County students.

Beyond the classroom, Gorenflo co-founded the Marion Mathematics Challenge, a county-wide competition hosted annually at Ohio State Marion. He was also instrumental in helping to fund the naming of the Alber Center gymnasium after Greg Swepston, his close friend, mentor and fellow educator.

David Webster, who nominated Gorenflo, praised his legacy: “Dave has had a wide-ranging and profoundly positive effect in Marion city and county, MTC, and Ohio State Marion.”
