About this event

Kiersten Dailey, Investigation of crossover between cannabinoid receptors and GLP1R

About the presentation:  GLP1R has become a target of interest for weight loss drugs. At the same time, as the legalization of cannabis becomes more widespread, cannabinoids THC and CBD have become products of interest, as well. Interestingly, both GLP1R and the cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) belong to the larger family of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). The scientific literature has already proposed links between these two systems, however their association with one another has not been well studied. Our work involved developing a library of ligands that have been shown to associate with either the CBs or GLP1R and perform molecular docking experiments across the three proteins. By using a high-throughput approach, we can begin to understand how ligands thought to target one of these proteins may also interact with another and vice versa.

Pizza will be served at the seminar for those in attendance.
