Someone will dedicate a summer to public service in D.C.
Ohio State Marion junior English major, Morgan Dewitt was afforded the opportunity to spend summer 2017 in Washington D.C. DeWitt was among 30 student university-wide chosen to be part of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs Washington Academic Internship Program (WAIP). Participants in the program meet policy professionals and interact with Ohio State alumni in the region. This interaction has value far beyond the semester in which the students are involved.
According to DeWitt, real opportunities are presented for career advice, professional development, and cross-generational exchange. During her time in the nation’s capital, DeWitt served as an intern with Congressman Jim Jordan’s office. Jordan represents Ohio’s 4th congressional district, which Ohio State Marion and her hometown of Marysville, Ohio are a part of. DeWitt described her experience as both challenging and highly rewarding.
