President Warren G. Harding’s wife, Florence, is considered the first of the “modern” first ladies. The role of the presidents’ wives from Mrs. Harding’s day in the 1920s forward will be the theme of this year’s Warren G. Harding Symposium at The Ohio State University at Marion, July 17th and 18th.

For Maria (Pilar) Edler, a senior social work major at Ohio State Marion, the road from her impoverished Central American homeland to the United States seemed at first paved with gold and possibility, an opportunity for her to spread her wings and expand her horizons.

The Ohio State University at Marion in partnership with The Annex of Marion, Marion County Engineers, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and Marion Technical College welcomed the public to a Three-Way Groundbreaking Celebration, Wednesday, November 12th, 3 p.m., on the Marion campus in Maynard Hall’s Guthery Community Room. The event signified the launch of three important projects on the campus: Ohio State Marion’s Science & Engineering Building; the long awaited University Drive extension, which will serve as a major access point onto campus and a key traffic artery for the Marion community; and construction of privately developed student housing adjacent to campus.

New student housing in close proximity to The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College campus cleared its final regulatory hurdle Monday evening, July 21st when the Marion Township Board of Zoning Appeals approved a conditional use permit for the 3.25 acre site on the east side of University Drive, just west of Marion’s Walmart.
