Starting college is a daunting process. Often, you’re moving away from the people you know into an environment you know little about. It’s also an exciting time full of opportunities. Here are five tips to make the most of college and handle the challenges that your first semester will throw at you.

Ohio State Marion Director of Community Relations and Development, Dave Claborn retired from Ohio State last week after ten years of esteemed service to the campus, but his impact has always gone beyond his 8 to 5 p.m. job. On August 3, Claborn rode the 100 mile trek across the plains and hills of Ohio to raise awareness and money for cancer research.

U.S. President Warren G. Harding’s election in November of 1920 was the first in which American women could vote, following passage of the Nineteenth Amendment. And vote, they did, swelling voter rolls from 18.5 million in 1916 to 26.8 million in 1920. Harding and his running mate, Calvin Coolidge won in a landslide victory, 60.3 percent of the vote against fellow Ohioan James Cox and Franklin Roosevelt’s 34.1 percent.

Madeline Nicol, former Ohio State Marion student and spring 2018 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, recently presented research at the CUNY Human Sentence Processing Conference in Boulder, CO.

Katie Fusek, a double major in history and English at Ohio State Marion was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society at Ohio State in April.

Junior psychology major Nathan Baker is making the most of his undergraduate experience at Ohio State Marion. The Mount Gilead, Ohio native recently returned from presenting at one of the biggest developmental psychology conferences in the world, the Society for Research on Childhood Development conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
