Members of the public are invited to attend the Annual Marion Campus Job and Internship Fair on Wednesday, April 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alber Student Center on the Marion Campus. Dozens of companies looking to hire employees and interns will be attending. The event is a joint effort of Marion Technical College, The Ohio State University at Marion and Ohio Means Jobs - Marion County.

Ohio State Marion Associate Professor of Psychology, Nikole Patson and Ohio State Professor of Psychology, Laura Wagner have been awarded a three-year, $382,631 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site grant renewal from the National Science Foundation to continue the Language of Science and the Science of Language program at the Center for Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus, OH.

Ohio State Marion alumna and Marysville Ohio native, Madeline Nicol and Associate Professor of Psychology, Dr. Nikole Patson, recently published research findings in The Journal of Cognitive Psychology titled, “The effect of gestures on the interpretation of plural references.” Their research could have positive implications for those suffering from a language disorder or aphasia in terms of helping them communicate more effectively.

Students in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program at The Ohio State University at Marion have been awarded Choose Ohio First Scholarships to help offset the costs of earning their degrees in the high demand field of engineering.

After the pencils were put down and the calculators were put away, local high school students were awarded $18,000 in scholarships from Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion. A total of 113 students from six area schools (Elgin, Harding, North Union, Pleasant, Ridgedale, and River Valley) came to the Marion campus to test their math prowess in the annual OSU MTC Marion Math Challenge.

The “In My Own Words” freshman writing series continued this semester, highlighting the moving student stories we so often encounter in the writing classroom. Started in 2012, “In My Own Words” showcases exemplary narrative writing in freshman composition courses, including English 1109 and 1110.
