Tuesday, January 14, 5:30 p.m. is the inaugural lecture featuring Ohio State Marion Assistant Professor of Physics, Dr. Chris Orban who will present a lecture entitled, The Science Behind an Unforgettable Year in Backyard Astronomy. Dr. Orban will share his perspective on these events and explain how the sun’s 11-year cycle of magnetic activity made it especially memorable.

First Gen Friday is a monthly first-person narrative written by other first generation college students who are now fellow faculty, staff, and students at Ohio State Marion. The goal of the stories is to provide advice to other first generation college students and create a sense of belonging among the campus community.

After the pencils were put down and the calculators were put away, local high school students were awarded $18,000 in scholarships to attend The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College. 105 students from six area schools (Elgin, Harding, Highland, North Union, Pleasant, and River Valley) came to the Marion campus to test their math prowess in the annual OSUM/MTC Marion Math Challenge.
