Discover Your Future: 11th Grade NextStep Visit Days

NextStep Visit Days at Ohio State Marion are designed to give high school juniors an immersive look at the collegiate experience through interactive learning and practical simulations. This program moves beyond the standard campus tour, allowing students to engage directly with university faculty and tackle the real-world decisions they will face after graduation.

The Senior Simulation is a cornerstone of the NextStep experience. This interactive session challenges students to navigate the logistical and financial realities of life as a college student. Participants move through various stations where they must make critical choices regarding:

  • Budgeting and Finance: Managing tuition, housing, and personal expenses.
  • Time Management: Balancing academic rigor with social life and work commitments.
  • Life Logistics: Handling the day-to-day responsibilities that come with independent living.

Students spend their day participating in rotating workshops led by Ohio State Marion faculty, offering a deep dive into diverse academic fields. These sessions provide a hands-on preview of university-level coursework:

  • Technology & Innovation: Explore the future of learning in sessions like Design and Decide: Using AI Without Letting It Think For You or Meet your AI study buddy: Notebook LM.
  • Applied Sciences: Engage in laboratory-based discovery with workshops such as Forensic Chemistry: Real or Forged? or Human Blood Typing & Compatibility Analysis.
  • Humanities & Arts: Delve into creative and cultural analysis in unique sessions like Performing Monsters

By combining these faculty-led sessions with guided campus tours and peer interaction, NextStep Visit Days empower students to confidently plan their own "next steps" toward higher education.
