Artist reception announced for Wheels in Motion

Ohio State Marion invites the campus and broader community to celebrate the opening of the exhibit Wheels in Motion: Reimagining Renewal Through Cycles of Change at a special public artist reception on Wednesday, April 15 at 12:30 p.m. in The Wayne & Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery, located off the lobby of Morrill Hall at Ohio State Marion, 1465 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Marion.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet contributors, explore interactive elements of the exhibition, and engage in conversation about the many ways sustainability takes shape across our region.

According to organizers, this reception marks the third annual installment of the Sustainability Stories series—an evolving creative platform that highlights the people, places, and projects driving environmental and community resilience in Marion County and beyond.

The exhibition will run from April 9 through September 4, 2026, in the campus gallery.

From the rhythmic turn of bicycle wheels to the seasonal cycles of farm‑to‑table harvests, Wheels in Motion explores sustainability as an ongoing, dynamic process. Visitors are invited to step into an ecosystem of change where history, innovation, and community action intersect.

At the center of this story is Ohio State Marion—serving as a hub of inspiration and momentum. Yet, like spokes radiating from a wheel, the campus’s sustainability initiatives are deeply connected to a wider network of local efforts: urban renewal projects reclaiming green spaces and revitalizing downtown blocks; farms and restaurants nourishing both rural and urban communities; and cyclists riding with purpose to support cancer research.

Through interactive installations and compelling narratives, the exhibition highlights how circularity—both literal and symbolic—shapes social, environmental, and personal resilience. Recurring patterns of renewal, the exhibit suggests, can guide us toward a more sustainable shared future.

As with previous Sustainability Stories exhibitions, visitors are encouraged to explore beyond the gallery walls. A printed and digital “trail guide” maps several noteworthy on‑ and off‑campus locations connected to this year’s theme, offering opportunities to experience sustainability in motion throughout the community.

Motion sparks momentum. Revolutions reimagine communities. Cycles connect us all. Ohio State Marion invites the community to step into the flow and discover how small revolutions create big change, one turn at a time.
