Welch returns with a tribute to the first ladies of song

Due to unforeseen medical circumstances, Long Time Gone, who was originally scheduled to perform this Thursday, April 13, 7:30 p.m. at Five Nights on Campus, had to cancel their performance.  Helen Welch is now slated to perform on Thursday instead. Welch performed for Five Nights last season with rave reviews and will return April 13, 2023 with a new arrangement.

The Ohio State University at Marion's Five Nights on Campus performing arts and entertainment series welcomes renown vocalist Helen Welch, who will perform a stirring tribute to "The First Ladies of Song," Thursday, April 13, 7:30 p.m., in Morrill Hall Auditorium.

Take a soul-stirring journey during this intimate, sophisticated musical production celebrating the world’s legendary divas and the songs they made so famous.  Welch turns the spotlight on the greatest divas of them all singing a wealth of tunes by some of the great women past and present of American popular music, from Judy Garland to Aretha Franklin, from Ella Fitzgerald to Etta James, from Dolly Parton to Barbra Streisand, Nina Simone, and Joni Mitchell.

Songs include: "At Last," "You Gotta Friend," "Fever," "Natural Woman," "Evergreen," "Jolene," and more.  Welch includes some interesting factoids about each female phenom along with some funny personal stories and her usual cheeky British humor. This show is a must for anyone who loves great classic songs past and present.
