Marion area law enforcement at Meijer in Marion, Ohio and other Marion area law enforcement as part of Marion County’s FOP Cops and Kids event

Ohio State Marion Police Officers Mark Beaschler and Josh Alexander joined the staff at Meijer store, Marion, Ohio and other Marion area law enforcement on Saturday December 8th, as part of Marion County’s FOP Cops and Kids event.

Formerly known as “Shop with a Cop,” this annual event is held at the Marion Meijer. Each child receives $200 to buy Christmas presents for his or her family, as well as something for themselves. In addition, the child receives a $100 gift card to help the family during the holiday season. There were over 30 needy children that were nominated from their respective Marion City and Marion County schools.

“We look forward to this event every year," said Officer Beaschler. "It is so fulfilling to know we are able to get them the things they need, (boots, coats, gloves, clothing) as well as a toy or two. It brings smiles to their faces and we’re happy that we can participate in making this Christmas special for them.”

There are many in the Marion community who support the Marion FOP “Cops and Kids” Christmas Shopping Spree, but organizers made a special thanks to Meijer and their staff for their $4,000 contribution to this event.
