The “In My Own Words” freshman writing series continued this semester, highlighting the moving student stories we so often encounter in the writing classroom. Started in 2012, “In My Own Words” showcases exemplary narrative writing in freshman composition courses, including English 1109 and 1110. The recognized essays for this semester are listed below.

Additionally, all essays were read and judged by a panel of judges unaffiliated with the class sections: Allisha Gray was determined to have the winning essay and will receive a $25 gift card.
