The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) recently announced their first national volleyball coaches poll and ranked the Ohio State Marion women’s volleyball team #10 among the 44 member collegiate volleyball programs throughout the United States.
The Scarlet Wave of Ohio State Marion went 6-1 this past week defeating three of the nation’s top ten teams in the USCAA. Last Saturday, the Scarlet Wave fought through a 5th set to upend Rochester College (Detroit, MI), who was ranked #1 at the time, with scores of 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 15-9.
On Sunday, the Scarlet Wave travelled to Cincinnati, OH to sweep both Clark State Community College (ranked #7) and Cincinnati Clermont (ranked #6) in three straight sets each. The Scarlet Wave defeated Clark State 25-18, 25-23, 25-23 and Cincinnati Clermont 25-12, 25-14, 25-17.
Kara Orsborn (Highland High School) received an all-tournament player award after the Marygrove College Tournament for her outstanding play as the team’s setter. Orsborn accumulated a total of 117 assists with a .332 set percentage through the week .
Randi Nelson (Marion Harding High School) received an all-tournament player award after the Marygrove College Tournament for her outstanding play as Ohio State Marion's middle hitter. Nelson accumulated through the week a total of 43 kills with a .213 hitting percentage.
Megan Gibson (Tiffin Columbian High School) received this week’s player of the week award in the Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference (OCAC) for her outstanding play as our team’s libero. Gibson accumulated a total of 115 digs with a .961 passing percentage and the team’s highest serve percentage at .982through the week .
