Appova wins statewide organization award for teaching

Ohio State Marion Assistant Professor of Education, Aina Appova will be presented the Kenneth Cummins Award for exemplary mathematics teaching at a college level, during the 66th Annual Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM) Conference in Sandusky, Ohio, October 27 & 28.

To be considered for this statewide award, the teacher must have been nominated by a member of Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics and completed an application.

This award is named after Kenneth Cummins. Dr. Cummins was well known in the mathematics community for his outstanding teaching. He was on the mathematics faculty at Kent State University and made numerous presentations at OCTM, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America meetings. He was widely known for conducting numerous summer and academic year institutes for high school mathematics teachers in which he reached a large number of teachers of mathematics throughout the state.
