Q: What are your top 3 goals you’ve had for yourself since you’ve started school here? How has attending Ohio State Marion help you achieve those goals?

A: My goals are: 1. Open a Wellness Center; 2. Help people to heal from trauma; 3. Earn a bachelor’s degree and go on to earn a master's and/or Ph.D.

OSU is both affordable and accessible to most. At the Marion campus, there is a sense of family, because of its small town feel and classes that are convenient. Social Work was one that could be completed all at the Marion campus and I didn’t have to go to Columbus to complete my requirements.

Q: How has your experience here at the Ohio State Marion shape who you are today and who you want to be tomorrow?

A: The education I received through OSU was complete, accredited, and satisfied the requirements I need to allow me to become a licensed social worker and fulfill my goals. The experiences I shared with all those who I attended OSUM are some of the best times, especially with the group of students in my social work cohort, whom I went through two years of classes, internships, fundraising, group projects, potlucks, and club meetings.

Q: In your opinion, what was the biggest benefit of going to school here?

A: I enjoyed the slow pace and deep conviction of my instructors. Because OSUM has a lower enrollment than the Columbus campus, Marion provided a deeper, more relaxed experience. It wasn’t confusing and full of doubt, because I was always able to get answers to questions in a timely manner and was looked after by those in charge throughout OSUM, all the way through to graduation.

Q: How would you describe your Ohio State Marion college experience?

A: The best was afforded to me and as a non-traditional student, I never felt unwelcome or out of place. My experience had very few “bumps and bruises.” Even when I did have a tough situation to deal with, I was cared for in a kind and professional manner. I had a great time learning at Marion’s campus of OSU.

Q: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now with the Ohio State diploma you have earned?

A: I see myself being the director of a wellness center that provides communication skills in many areas of social and community health. I will be providing access to many to find the resources they need and training on how to become the best they can possibly be.
