Science faculty from The Ohio State University at Marion recently donated unopened personal protective equipment (PPE) earmarked for biology labs at Ohio State Marion for use by medical professionals at Marion General Hospital in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Psychology
After attending The University of Dayton for only one semester, junior psychology major Hannah Belden, found her fit at The Ohio State University at Marion. Belden wanted to find a smaller, more personalized educational experience, so she transferred to Ohio State Marion on the recommendation of a friend and ended up staying longer than she anticipated.

The three students were among 150 selected university-wide to represent the Sesquicentennial Student Scholar Leadership Program. Through this program, students are awarded $2,500 scholarships while they build the skills and fortitude essential to becoming engaged citizens through leadership development and ambassador opportunities.

Ohio State Marion Professor of Psychology, Dr. Tracy Tylka is featured in a January 6, 2020 published article by The Huff Post (Huffington Post) entitled, "Intuitive Eating: What It Is, And Why It Could Work For You." The body image and eating behavior researcher concludes from her research that intuitive eaters “are aware of and trust their body’s internal hunger and satiety cues and use these cues to determine when and how much to eat.”

The Ohio State University at Marion and Marion Technical College recently hosted students from six area high schools to compete in the campus's annual high school mathematics competition Friday, December 6, 2019 in Morrill Hall Auditorium on the Marion campus.

What began nine years ago as a concept to introduce students to practical lessons in grant writing, grant approval, and non-profit organization stewardship has grown to become an important part of securing much needed funding for several Marion area non-profit organizations. For the community it strengthens the partnership between Ohio State Marion and the United Way of Marion County, and provides a great experiential learning opportunity for students involved in English 2367.01S, the Pay It Forward student philanthropy initiative.
