Focus on Financies
- Financial aid awards Aid may include scholarships, grants, loans and Federal Work Study. Need is determined each year by the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students view, accept and manage aid through their Buckeye Link.

- Online refunds: After all applicable charges are paid to the university, students with any excess aid from any combination of grants, loans and scholarships receive the excess aid as a refund. Students can sign up for direct deposit of refunds through the “Account Refund” link in the Finances section of the Buckeye Link.
- Tuition Option Payment Plan (TOPP): Students can enroll in the TOPP each semester for a $30 fee, which divides the cost of tuition, housing, and fees into four monthly payments.
- Making Payment: Click “Make a Payment” in the Finances section of your Buckeye Link and follow the steps from there.
- Know your payment options: The preferred – and easiest – method of payment is online through ePayment. Students, or their designated guardians, can pay using a personal checking or savings account, or credit card. (Note: The Ohio State University charges a non-refundable 2.75% credit card fee per transaction.)
Know the Policy
- Sharing information A student’s privacy is protected under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). However, students may select to release academic, financial aid and account information to designees through the Student Information Release link in the Personal Information section of the Buckeye Link.

- Health insurance: Ohio State requires students enrolled at least half-time to have health insurance and assesses a fee each year for the Comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan. Students may elect to then waive participation and have the fee removed each year with proof of adequate coverage under another health insurance plan.
