The Annex of Marion, a privately developed student housing facility located just north of the Marion campus, is currently building two new additions to their living environment, which includes expanded apartment options and a clubhouse for student residents.

According to Pamela Miller-Sheets, director of resident services for the Annex of Marion, the second phase of the Annex will accommodate an additional 96 college students, which will double the capacity now living at the property.

The Annex opened its doors to 96 students in August 2015.

Students are currently living in 4-bedroom 2-bathroom apartments. Phase II construction will offer a more diverse apartment mix where students will have also have the choice of 2-bedroom 1-bathroom apartments.

“This addition is a way for those who are a little more private to enjoy all the benefits of college student housing in a more exclusive way,” said Miller-Sheets.

These apartments will also be pet-friendly, with some stipulations, she added.

Along with the new living options, The Annex is also building a new clubhouse. The new addition will feature “an exercise suite, lounge, flat screen TV with cable, and study areas.”

Freshman nursing major Haley Klenzman, a current resident of the Annex, said she enjoys living in an all student apartment complex because, “it’s a lot more laid back and easy to make friends and meet new people.”

Freshman pre-law major Mara Snyder enjoys the Annex because of the opportunity to live away from home.

“It has given me a better grasp of responsibility and adult like duties that have truly made me grow and become fully self- sufficient,” said Snyder.

Both Klenzman and Snyder shared their excitement about the new clubhouse, echoing that it will be a great place to work out and also hang out with other students close to their apartments.

“Students who want more of the full-college experience, but attend a regional campus now enjoy living, studying, and even playing right off campus in a college-only community,” said Miller-Sheets.

The Phase II housing construction will be complete late summer. Move in day is August 21, 2016. The Clubhouse is set for completion in April 2016.
