Inclusive Teaching, Part 2: Planning Productive Conflict
Monday, October 15, 2018, 12:30-2 p.m., Board Room, Maynard Hall
Asking students to challenge preconceived notions, take a position, or support an argument with evidence makes them stronger critical thinkers. Moving beyond their own experience might surface strong emotions, which can actually deepen learning. In the second of this three-part series, we return to Universal Design principles for leading discussions on course content that we anticipate being challenging for students. Participants will leave with tools for setting goals for discussions, articulating expectations, and anticipating conflicts in class.
