The Ohio State University at Marion

Education

Why become a teacher?

Our students make a difference in the lives of children. Throughout the program our students spend time in classrooms; work with faculty on research and presentations; and advocate for children.

The Ohio State University is one of the top ranked Education programs in the country. Ohio State Marion EHE faculty are involved in school-based projects and complete research in diverse areas of education.

About the Education Major

All coursework for the Bachelors of Science degree in Education can be completed at Ohio State Marion. Our department offers three paths:

Early Childhood Education (PreK-grade 3) This program leads to a State of Ohio teaching license.

Middle Childhood Education (grades 4-8) with specialties in Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. This program leads to a State of Ohio teaching license.

Early and Middle Childhood Studies. This program prepares students for jobs that connect to children such as museums and Boy/Girls Clubs, but do not require a teaching license.

Field Experiences

Education students spend time each of their four years in school placements. We have mentoring relationships with 13 area school districts. These districts provide experiences in Early and Middle Childhood classrooms with diverse populations.
