Freshmen Welcome Day

Freshmen Welcome Day is an opportunity for all new Ohio State Marion students, including those taking courses at the partnership location in Delaware county, to meet one another, current students, staff and faculty. The day will begin with a focus on our common book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Students will engage in small group discussions about the book, led by faculty. Following book discussions, students will attend Convocation, the official academic welcome to becoming a Buckeye! A new addition to Freshmen Welcome Day is an interactive program called Playfair – you’ll just have to attend to see what it’s all about!

For lunch, you’ll have your choice of traditional burgers and dogs. Student organizations on campus will be represented as well as community organizations and businesses that may be looking for student employees or volunteers. Volleyball, corn hole, music and other outdoor activities will be ongoing.

As part of your Exploration 1100.01 course, all new freshmen are required to attend Welcome Day. Your response paper to reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is due this day. Please refer to your common book instructions you received at your orientation session for details about Welcome Day and the writing assignment.
