Student Leadership Training
On February 7th, eighteen students from Ohio State Marion and Marion Technical College gathered to spend their Saturday learning how to become better student leaders. This group of students came from a variety of backgrounds, but had one thing in common, the drive to be better leaders on their campus. Students participating in the leadership training day also represented a club or organization already established on campus. The day was filled with challenging mental and physical activities that taught students how to work as a team, communicate efficiently, become better leaders, and also have a lot of fun. Students took the Strength finders test before coming, which identified their top 5 unique strengths, and discussed the results of the test with one another. They were also asked to identify goals that they hoped to achieve on campus for the semester. Karen Leuthold, Ohio State Marion program coordinator for student life/diversity & inclusion, and Leslie Beary, Ohio State Marion wellness and mental health counselor, facilitated the leadership training day. Ohio State Marion looks forward to doing more student leadership events in the future.
