Bowman wins Manager of the Year at national conference

Ohio State Marion Science Laboratory Director, Carol Bowman received the Manager of the Year Award on Thursday, July 28th at the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers (NAOSMM) 2016 Conference at the historic Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in St. Petersburg, Fl.

This nationally recognized award is seen as the most prestigious award a person in an academic lab management position can receive.

To be eligible to earn the award a nominee must be a regular member of NAOSMM for a minimum of five years, have a lengthy record of achievement unquestionable and sustained, in one or more of the following areas: distinguished operational, educational, or administrative activities; contribution to the advancement of the profession, and active attendance in at least five NAOSMM conferences.

Bowman, who has been employed with The Ohio State University at Marion since June 1998, has also been active in NAOSMM for many years.

Founded in 1974, NAOSMM has grown to include 500 members in the scientific industry. Members are from teaching, research, and industrial fields, and are involved in purchasing, receiving, warehousing, distribution, and inventory control of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, glassware and plasticware, instrumentation, and environmental health and safety.
