MESSAGE FROM OHIO STATE ATHLETICS
In light of the severe weather and evacuations at several college football stadiums across the country last weekend and a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday, The Ohio State University would like to share what options fans have in the case of severe weather at Ohio Stadium during a football game.
If we experience severe weather at Ohio Stadium, the safest course of action will be determined, and fans will be given different options on how to proceed. These options may include:
• Remain at the stadium in the seating areas. (Due to the number of lightning rods around the stadium and the physical structure of the stadium, the seating areas can be a safe place when there is a thunderstorm or high winds).
• Move to the concourse (as space allows)
• Leave the stadium (re-entry will be allowed with a ticket)
• Leave the stadium and go to St. John Arena, French Fieldhouse, Ice Rink, Schottenstein Center,
Student Recreation Center (as space allows) and/or any parking garage (re-entry will be allowed with a ticket).
If initiated, these actions and directions will be communicated through a PA announcement and video board message in the stadium. Updates to the situation and status of the game will be communicated through PA Announcements, video board messages, Twitter, the television broadcast and the Ohio State Football Radio Network.
Public Safety Officials and Ohio Stadium Event Staff will be on-site to assist all fans.
