Breaking The Stigma: Living and Thriving with a Mental Disorder

Please join us for a refreshments and a brief speaker presentation. Learn about one woman’s journey of self-discovery. Her story will take you on an extraordinary roller coaster ride of euphoric highs and debilitating lows.
Gain a deeper understanding of mental illness and how it not only affects the individual but those around them as well. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to see the negative impact of self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. Ask all the questions you’ve ever wanted to know about mental illness and substance abuse, but didn’t know who or how to ask.

About the presenter:
Katie Hord is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor as well as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor- III. She currently works at the Marion Area Counseling Center, and primarily counsels individuals with alcohol and drug problems, as well as mental health issues. Katie received her Master’s in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton and also has a certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
