Staff Career Development Grants

Staff Career Development Grants (maximum $500 each) are awarded each year to assist eligible Ohio State staff members with education and training costs associated with the pursuit of professional development and career goals. Grants may be awarded for expenses such as registration fees, tuition fees, textbooks, childcare expenses, job search/outplacement expenses, and transportation.  The grants are provided by the Office of Human Resources and University Staff Advisory Committee

Due date: Annually on November 15

Ray  Travel Award

The Edward J. Ray Travel Award for Scholarship and Service (Ray Award) encourages and enables graduate students across the university to participate in professional conferences, both in their respective fields and in the broader academic community, by reimbursing or partially reimbursing the expenses incurred by graduate students during travel to conferences and meetings to present original research.

Due date: Award given quarterly.  Check website for specific due dates.

MSAC's charge

The Marion Staff Advisory Council (MSAC) was formed in 2010 with a mission to serve as an advisory body to The Ohio State University at Marion Dean and Director by maintaining an active and participatory line of communication with the staff community; to provide a forum through which university staff can raise, discuss, and make recommendations; and to support the University’s mission. MSAC is comprised of nine (9) Classified Civil Service, Unclassified Administrative & Professional, and Senior Administrative & Professional staff members.
 
To accomplish this, the Ohio State Marion Staff Advisory Council shall:
 
a.  Serve as liaison to the Ohio State Marion Administration concerning issues affecting staff in their employment, evaluation, compensation, recognition, and professional development.
b.  Maintain an active and participatory line of communication on behalf of and among staff to provide a forum through which staff can raise, discuss, and make recommendations on non-academic concerns and activities at the Marion campus.
c.  Promote a sense of community at Ohio State Marion through public relations, communication, and activities involving the staff.
d.  Provide a natural link with the University Staff Advisory Committee at the Columbus campus.
